This kit is designed to replace the rear heater hoses. The factory hoses were formed hoses that were 1/2" at the "tee" into the main heater hoses and widened to 5/8" at the heater core. The reason for this reduction in hose size is to eliminate any impact on the flow to the front heater. If it were the same size, it could take nearly the full flow of the heater system and bypass the front heater, greatly reducing its efficiency. In fact, some of the factory hoses we have pulled off have contained a bushing to further limit the flow to the rear heater for this same reason.

Since both the reduction "tee" and the formed hoses are both no longer available, we just used standard 5/8" "tees" at the junction and straight 5/8" heater hose like the rest of the system. We include a plastic flow reduction bushing that gets installed in the end of one of the hoses to keep the system functioning properly. Simply slip the bushing into the hose before you install it on any one of the fittings (we like to put it in the end of the hose that goes to the heater valve).

Fits 2WD and 4WD. Simply cut to fit.
