New ECUs are no longer available, and when they were they cost three times more than a GoWesty rebuilt unit. Two brands of ECU's were used in 1986-91 Vanagons, both with same part number. One was made by Triumph Adler (T/A), the other was Bosch. Please verify what you have, and make your selection in the drop-down menu.
What makes a GoWesty rebuilt ECU's worth buying? Well, they are not just wiped down, tested, and labeled. We have found from experience what commonly goes bad in these suckers, and they are fixed to better than new. All old, brittle original solder on every internal component is removed and re-soldered. Common failure electronic components, whether they test good or bad, are replaced. Then the unit is bench tested for proper function.
We have a stellar track record on this item, and are extremely confident in their quality and performance. However, if you feel you have received a faulty ECU, please read our return policy below, carefully.
Return policy on this electronic item: It is not acceptable or fair to purchase an electronic item in an attempt to troubleshoot your problem. Electronic parts are susceptible to damage if installed in a vehicle in which another item of the same system is faulty. It can cause the new electronic device to be permanently damaged. Therefore, if an electronic part is removed from its sealed package and/or installed, it is yours. You own it, and you may not return it. That said, if you wish to exchange a potentially defective unit, we will install it in one of our vehicles to doublecheck whether or not it works properly. If it works properly, the unit is yours, and you will be given the option of having it shipped back to you for the cost of shipping. If it does not work properly, it will be returned to the rebuilder. If the rebuilder determines that the unit was damaged by the vehicle in which it was installed, the warranty is VOID. You will be given the option of having it shipped back to you for the cost of having the rebuilder test it ($75), and cost of shipping the item back to you. If the rebuilder determines that the unit was not damaged by the vehicle in which it was installed, you will be sent a replacement immediately at no charge to you, including shipping.
