16" Rally Style Alloy - Bare Wheel [2WD]

New rally style wheel! We are happy to offer these nice quality high pressure cast wheels made specifically for the Bus & Vanagon platform. They have the correct bolt pattern and offset required to mount to your vehicle without any modifications. This aluminum wheel is finished in satin black paint with clear coat.

This is a bare wheel, and does not include mounting hardware.

Factory Lowered Vehicles: Wolfsburg edition hard-top, GL models with ground effects package, Carat and Multivan models came equipped from the factory with 1" lowering springs. Therefore, the 16" wheel and tire combo can and will on occasion rub the inside fender lip under hard driving. They fit great, handle on the highway like a dream, look superb, but you may need to modify your driving style. This note does NOT apply to any year of 2WD or 4WD Westfalia Camper or 7-Passenger Vanagon. It only applies to factory lowered vehicles.

Syncro owners: Our ET23 wheels will fit a Syncro Vanagon. However, whereas an ET of 23 is perfect on a 2wd so the tire clears the suspension parts, that same wheel sticks out more than needed on the Syncro. As a general rule, wheels with an ET23 are not ideal for the Syncro application, even though they will technically fit. This is especially true when big off-road tires are used, because they will rub the body needlessly. If you have a Syncro, buy these ones instead.

Heavy Duty Finned Drums: If you are going to use any GW alloy wheel with the GW finned drum brakes, you will need to purchase longer wheel studs.

Torque specs: Please torque the fasteners to 95 ft.lbs.

What is Offset?: These wheels have an offset (ET) of 23mm. The "ET" number is the measure of how much the bolting surface of a wheel is "offset" from the center line of the wheel. An ET of zero means that the surface where the wheel bolts to the hub is located at exactly the mid point of the wheel. So, for example on an 8" wheel, 4" are outboard of the bolt surface, and 4" are inboard. If the ET is a positive number, that indicates a "positive offset", which means the bolt surface is moved OUT from the center point of wheel, which means the wheel and tire are moved IN towards the center line of the vehicle; so they stick out of the body LESS. The BIGGER the ET number, the MORE the tire and wheel are shoved into the body, and the LESS they stick out. Ideally, the maximum amount of ET that will fit the suspension design of the vehicle should be used, so the wheel sticks out as little as possible, and is therefore less likely to rub any part of the body.

14" Spare: If you plan to keep (and potentially use) your 14” steel wheel spare, you will need to keep one set of your original steel wheel hardware in the event of needing to use your spare. Pro-tip: If you get a flat in the front, move a full size wheel and tire from the back, and put your 14" spare on the back in its place. Much safer steering this way!

16" Spare: This 16" wheel will not fit in the spare tire bay without modification to the bay itself.
