Lucas,

One beautiful vanagon is presently sitting in my driveway just waiting for its first big outing! After chasing the vehicle truck around Eugene last Friday night, we finally found a place to unload it in the middle of heavy traffic, but we managed just fine. I spent much of the weekend trying to figure out how everything works, but at least managed to find the switch below the dashboard that turns on the radio!

The next project is how to get the guy into my garage (I considered storing it for the winter, but want to be close to it . . . perhaps just to snuggle in the back from time to time!). I think if I let a little air out of each tire I can clear the door beam.

I met another Westy fan yesterday at the DMV getting it registered and learned of the Pacific NW club called WetWesties. Sounds like a good idea, eh?

I have many, many questions about the van and hope to not bug you too much, but I am mystified by a couple of things so far. Will I find a useful place on your website to learn how to use the Syncro buttons on the dash? And what is the function of the button and blinking LED light that are located to the right of the instrument panel below the hazard light?

Thanks very much for filling the gas tank! Do you recommend regular or premium unleaded gas? Can I assume that maintenance items are set to zero on the van's arrival?

I will try to attach a few photos for you, but am an amateur at including attachments, so be patient!

Needless to say I am excited to try the van out in the mountains, though I may have to wait until the spring thaw for that.

The red LED is part of the keyless entry system—blinking means “locked," and the flashing light is just a fake alarm warning (no alarm). In your paperwork is a manual on that system.
