Aaron shipped his Syncro Westy all the way from Colorado He had purchased it only about a year ealier. It was basically that had a fair amount of rust, that got a fresh engine, trans, shocks, springs, big brakes, wheels, and paint job at some point. The rest of it was still rusty and in need of some major re-work.
Here is what we did:
Removed engine and transaxle as a complete assembly—put aside, leave alone except for adding decoupler
Stripped undercarriage completely of all suspension, cooling, AC, fuel systems.
Scrape, grind, steam clean, let dry, undercoat complete
Rebuilt suspension and steering, got rid of all rusty parts with combination of new and good used
Replaced all clutch and brake hydraulics—put back brake mechanical items, they had already been replaced
All new cooling system from end to end
Repair rusty attachment points for fuel tank saddles, replace all fuel hose, install tank with new sender and wiring
Fuel and temp calibration
Full page of reliability items
That is what it NEEDED. Then, we did a bunch of stuff he WANTED:
Propex furnace, installed
Solar panel system
GoWesty 3-battery deluxe auxiliary power system
Keyless entry
Power window switches moved to dash
High powered headlight system
Black texture around bottom
GoWesty plate steel bumpers.
And a few other cool things...
Nice Syncro Westy NOW, Aaron! ; tomcaka@gmail.com
